A Message From the Coaches

The friends, alumni, and donors who support Washington Rowing have always been critical to our success. We call these benefactors “Stewards”, and they have been instrumental in shaping our history for over 100 years.  You - as a donor of your time or money to Washington Rowing – are a valued Steward of this program.

October 1^st of each year kicks off our Annual Drive. Our goal is to raise $200,000 from now through December 31st. We focus our campaign on the last three months of the year, and by having a consistent “season” for our Annual Drive, we hope to accomplish three things: 1) enable donors to see the direct impact of their gifts on the spring racing season; 2) create funding predictability that enables consistent performance decisions for the program; 3) frees us to focus on our priority: preparing our exceptional student-athletes to compete at the highest levels during the racing season.

When you invest in Washington Rowing you become part of our success. In the October issue of Sweep we have done something new:  designed it as an annual report of the program. Like a shareholder in a company would receive an annual report, we want to show you how your investments are creating value for our student athletes and leading to success on the water. We hope our message is clear: your generosity enables Washington to consistently compete at a very high level on both the national and global stage.

In the future we plan to make every October issue of Sweep an annual report. We hope this will reaffirm that the Steward support of Washington Rowing is critical to the current and future success of the program.  Together, and through the continued support of our alumni and friends, we can assure that our current athletes - and those arriving in the future - can share in the storied tradition of Washington Rowing.
